First Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Reduction
The first session of the Global Platform for Disaster Reduction has had its first meeting from June 5-7 in Geneva.
Videos, speeches and presentations from the Platform are available on their website and are definitely worth a perusal. Of particular note is the session document on reporting on disaster risks and progress in risk reduction.

FACEBOOK Community Members
Facebook is a free online network which allows members to share information between contacts, post messages to one another and, in the case of YPDR, introduce individuals with similar interests and goals.
Facebook now has a YPDR Group, which any facebook member is free to join. Members can share information, post messages, and start dialogues on disaster management/risk reduction related issues.

Launch: Building Disaster Resilient Communities -- Good Practices and Lessons Learned
The UN/ISDR has launched a new publication, "Building Disaster Resilient Communities -- Good Practices and Lessons Learned". The publication is an outcome of ISDR's new 'global network of NGOs'
